Chartres – The Cathedral

You will learn the history of the magnificent Middle Ages city of Chartres through its monuments, fortifications, Gallo Roman crypts, picturesque streets, but particularly its cathedral.
Considered as one of the most beautiful Gothic buildings ever constructed, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres was completed in around 1260. With a footprint of 650 m2, Chartres Cathedral is the largest in France. It is particularly famous for its 4,500 statues, its 13.36-metre diameter rose window (one of the largest in the world) and its stained glass windows featuring the characteristic Chartres Blue glass.
